Ministry of Education Expectations - September 2010

"Growing Success" and the "K-12 School Effectiveness Framework" -

*As of September 2010, assessment, evaluation, and reporting in Ontario schools, for all Grades 1 through 12, must be based on the policies and practices described in Growing Success. Schools must ensure that assessment, evaluation, and reporting practices and procedures are fair, transparent, and equitable for all students, and well-aligned with the new standards outlined in Growing Success. OFIS will be offering a workshop that will outline key implementation strategies and achievement benchmarks for this 159 page document. OFIS' workshop will be more cost effective and geared towards independent schools than the current PDS seminars being advertised.

*As of September 2012, the 47 page- K-12 School Effectiveness Framework, which has been developed from current research of the most effective elementary and secondary schools practices from across our province, will be expected policy. This document identifies evidence-based indicators of successful practice in effective schools. These indicators can be applied by school leaders to ensure, by school self assessment, that their schools adhere to the highest and most current measures of academic excellence in practice, and can also assist in future strategic planning and allocation of key school resources. OFIS will be offering a workshop that will explore these evidence-based indicators, and key practical application and compliance strategies.
