OFIS School Leadership Development
OFIS Professional Development Events & Resources are reflective of the most current government expectations, legal obligations and innovative leadership ideas. The annual calendar is developed by the OFIS board comprised of experienced school leaders and in consultation with our members.
As part of OFIS’ commitment to standard-setting leadership for independent schools and their leaders, we have 3 defined categories of leadership development we encourage:
Political Development – OFIS plans for and prepares appropriate political activities for its members aimed at raising the positive public profile for independent education
Professional Development – OFIS plans for and prepares appropriate professional development for its members aimed at improving policies and procedures for independent schools across the province
Personal Development – Personal Leadership Development Retreat – providing school leaders with an opportunity to collaborate, network and problem solve in a community of professionals ranging from beginners to seasoned veterans. Designed for current school leaders and graduates of PSP I and/or II. These retreats will feature successful strategies for addressing personal leadership challenges in a collegial atmosphere where the focus is personal leadership development. Through interactive workshops, group discussions and time for personal and professional reflection, these retreats will help school leaders strengthen their leadership skills and widen their personal support network.
