OFIS School Leadership Development

OFIS Professional Development Events & Resources are reflective of the most current government expectations, legal obligations and innovative leadership ideas. The annual calendar is developed by an OFIS staff members and supported by a sub-committee to the OFIS board that is comprised of experienced school leaders and geared towards the needs of independent schools right now!

As part of OFIS’ commitment to standard-setting leadership for independent schools and their leaders, we have 3 defined categories of leadership development we encourage:
Political Development – OFIS plans for and prepares appropriate political activities for its members aimed at raising the positive public profile for independent education
Professional Development – OFIS plans for and prepares appropriate professional development for its members aimed at improving policies and procedures for independent schools across the province
Personal Development – Personal Leadership Development Retreat – providing school leaders with an opportunity to collaborate, network and problem solve in a community of professionals who range in expertise from new leader to experienced principal. Designed for current school leaders and graduates of PSP I & II. These retreats will feature successful strategies for addressing personal leadership challenges in a collegial atmosphere.  Held in a unique setting where leaders can unplug from the stress and rigors of their daily lives and engage with fellow colleagues whose shared focus is personal leadership development. Through interactive workshops, group discussions and time for personal and professional reflection, retreat will help school leaders strengthen their leadership skills and widen their personal support network. Held at Kempenfelt Conference Centre, located just 45 minutes from Toronto on beautiful Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe.

SAVE THE DATES!! – Hang it in the staff room and plan your school’s in-service days around OFIS Professional Development Services.  OFIS always offers events that are immediately relevant for both administrators and teachers as leaders

Register For OFIS Professional Development Events

Participants can either register by mail or online for each event
Mail-in registrations must be in our office 10 days prior to the scheduled event and must be accompanied by payment
On-line registration can be done by following the links at the bottom of each individual event

OFIS 16/17 PD Registration Form

*Refunds are not available for OFIS PD Events. If  a registrant contacts the OFIS office by email prior to the event to advise, that registration can be transferred to another registrant from the same school for the same event , or the registration can be transferred to the next available date at no charge. If the registrant contacts the OFIS office after the event has occurred, no such transfers are available.
