OFIS Professional Development Events & Resources are reflective of the most current government expectations, legal obligations and innovative leadership ideas. The annual calendar is developed by the OFIS board comprised of experienced school leaders and in consultation with our members.
Coding for the K-8 Classroom
The course has been designed to meet the Ministry of Education’s new curriculum requirements and will give participants the building blocks to provide coding instruction that is appropriate for any grade and programming language. Completion of this course will provide the participant with a complete unit that also draws from the STEAM PBL experiential realm. Every module has practical exercises and the entire course finishes with a student-ready project.

Building Capacity for Mental Health
Supporting mental health and wellness is quickly becoming a priority in our schools as we continue to live through the pandemic. As school leaders, what can we do to improve support for our students, staff, families, and ourselves? Embark on a journey with OFIS and Julia Swaigen MSW, RSW to create meaningful and lasting changes that build capacity for great mental health in your school community.

Principals Course Part 1: Foundations of Independent School Operations in Ontario
Whether founding a new school or taking on a new leadership role in an established school, this course will provide the core knowledge and introduce the skills required to successfully operate an independent school in Ontario. Critical concepts and key resources for independent school leaders will be explored in depth
